CS Murkomen Warns: Masterminds Behind Narok Violence Will Face the Full Force of the Law

The Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared that he will pursue legal measures against anyone discovered to have incited the violence which resulted in five fatalities at Angara Barikoi, Narok County.

During a security conference held in Kerio Valley, Murkomen vowed to ensure that everyone responsible for the Monday afternoon unrest would be brought to justice.

"Calm has been reinstated, however, we will make certain that those who provoked the unrest face accountability. No measure will be off-limits, irrespective of their standing," he declared.

The CS mentioned that government officials were scheduled to conduct a land survey in the region when the attack occurred.

"It is entirely indefensible. While I agree that land has become a cause for disputes, there are appropriate methods to address these problems. Should you feel wronged, take your case to court; and if you do not prevail, you have the option to file an appeal," he stated.

Murkomen stated that extra personnel have been deployed in the region to avert any further conflicts.

We owe loyalty only to the Constitution and the law. Individuals associated with the circumstances in Narok will be subject to legal proceedings.

On Monday, violence broke out in Angara Barrikoi due to a disagreement over property, leading to five fatalities.

Community members, asserting their ancestral claim to the territory, obstructed the principal route to halt land authorities from assessing the region.

The demonstration rapidly turned into fierce confrontations with law enforcement officials, resulting in casualties for each party involved.

Along with the casualties, a vehicle owned by the land officials sustained damage during the disturbances.

The locals assaulted the vehicle, thereby exacerbating the already fraught circumstances.

The harm inflicted upon the car, viewed as an emblem of governmental involvement, exacerbated the mounting resentment and fury within the neighborhood.

The officer overseeing Angata Barrikoi Health Centre, Joel Langat, stated that four individuals arrived deceased, and another died during treatment; all had suffered from gunshots.

Community leaders such as elders have intervened to mediate, calling upon both the local population and officials to refrain from additional acts of aggression and instead participate in calm discussions aimed at resolving the land conflict.
