Trump Considers Grenell or Friedman for UN Ambassador Role
President Donald Trump is mulling over the possibility of appointing Richard Grenell and David Friedman as U.S. ambassadors to the United Nations.
Grenell, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, and Friedman, a former representative to Israel, are part of roughly 30 potential contenders.
Last week, Trump removed Representative Elise Stefanik’s nomination, expressing worries about how it might affect the Republican control of the House majority.
“We have a lot of good people that want it. David Friedman, Ric Grenell, and maybe 30 others. Everyone loves that position. That’s a star-making position,” Trump told reporters.
Grenell, who currently serves as a special envoy and interim president of the Kennedy Center, is among the leading candidates.
