Gospel Singer Osinachi's Husband Condemned to Hang: Tragic Verdict Revealed

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) In Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, Peter Nwachukwu, the spouse of deceased gospel artist Osinachi, was handed a death sentence via hanging yesterday after being found guilty of manslaughter related to his wife's demise on April 8, 2022.

In her ruling, Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme stated that the prosecution successfully met the legal requirement to prove the accused's guilt by adequately demonstrating their liability.

Justice Nwosu-Iheme also stated that the prosecution demonstrated through presented evidence that Mr. Nwachukwu was accountable for his wife's death.

The judge then ruled him as guilty for the crime of manslaughter along with several additional charges.

The judge pointed out that for the charge of culpable homicide as per the Penal Code Law, the prosecution needs to establish three key points: first, that the victim passed away; second, that this demise was triggered by the accused; and third, that the accused acted with intent.

Justice Nwosu-Iheme ruled that the prosecution effectively demonstrated the components of culpable homicide against Nwachukwu, noting that even the defense admitted that the victim had passed away.

She pointed out that unlike what the defendant claimed—that the deceased had cancer—the prosecution witness (PW15) stated in court that although the late singer indeed had cancer, it wasn’t an advanced stage and didn’t cause her demise.

The judge ruled that although testimony from individuals under 18 years old requires additional corroboration, the deceased’s children testified in court about how their father frequently abused their mother physically and withheld funds necessary for her medical care at hospitals.
