Joy Unbounded: Proud Coach Brajesh Jha Reflects on Surya's Meteoric Rise After Shattering Records

New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): Brajesh Jha, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's early mentor, expressed immense happiness and profound pride following the youngster's exceptional performance at the expense of Gujarat Titans (GT) during the 18th season of the IPL on Monday evening in Jaipur. The teenager broke multiple records through his impressive play.

The talent hunt persisted throughout this lucrative tournament’s current season, and a fresh sensation emerged as RR chased down a daunting total of 210 runs. A prodigious 14-year-old named Suryavanshi stunned the cricketing world with an audacious century, thereby inscribing his name into the annals of cricket history.

The youthful left-hander single-handedly shattered GT's defense at 209/4 and boosted Rajasthan's morale, setting the stage for their commanding 8-wicket victory.

The previous year, the Rajasthan Royals invested Rs 1.1 crores in a 13-year-old prodigy named Suryavanshi. While this hefty price made news headlines, it didn’t come as a shock given his impressive track record representing Bihar in various national competitions within India.

By April, Suryavanshi shattered the barriers and ignited excitement in Jaipur with a standout performance against GT’s sharp bowling lineup, which has accumulated 694 international appearances between them. Displaying exceptional skill, he launched into an aggressive innings of 101 runs off just 38 balls, captivating the audience. This display pushed Yashasvi Jaiswal aside as Rajasthan celebrated victory, finally breaking their five-game losing spell in grand style.

"It brings great happiness. He has impressed everyone. The district takes pride in his achievements. He has etched his name in history. As his coach, I feel extremely proud of what he accomplished," said Brajesh Jha to ANI.

One striking feature of Suryavanshi's capability to hit the ball with power even at his young age is the technique he employs and develops. His bat covers an impressive span in very little time.

When he finishes his wind-up, his bat rises above shoulder height with both gloves positioned behind him. As he follows through after hitting the ball, it becomes a complete circle, typically moving from back to front until finally stopping over his opposite shoulder.

Suryavanshi broke the record at just 14 years and 32 days old to become the youngest player ever to hit a century in T20 cricket, surpassing Vijay Zol who was 18 years and 118 days when he set the previous mark. This historic feat occurred during his match against Mumbai back in 2013 where Suryavanshi smashed an impressive 109 runs.

In just his first 35 balls, he reached the three-digit mark and secured his position as the second-fastest player to hit a century in the IPL, coming right after Chris Gayle's record-setting 30-ball century for Punjab Kings versus Pune Warriors back in 2013. (ANI)
